It almost feels like yesterday, writing a blogpost reflecting on our successes and lessons learned in 2020 and looking forward to 2021. Yet here we are, another year has passed; 2021 is done and we are in 2022! So, how do we look back to 2021 and forward to 2022, find out in this blogpost.

Lieven Raes works for Digital Flanders, the regional government agency for the digitisation of government (BE). He is an experienced consortium and project coordinator active in several EU funded H2020. With the end of the year in sight, he made some time for us to talk about the new European project COMPAIR. A project in which we, at Telraam, are also partners.

With more than 30 Telraam networks on the counter, we are now firmly launched. But how does our local contact look at the cooperation? In this series, we zoom in on our cooperation with local authorities.

In the city of Aalst, a circulation plan was introduced for the city center on August 16 last summer. This plan aims to increase traffic safety and stimulate active forms of transport in the city. Within this plan, the choice was made to slow down the through motorized traffic in certain well-chosen streets. Some strategic axes through the city were also reserved for bicycle traffic in the first place.

Twelve Flemish schools are starting a pilot project in which they measure traffic using Telraam devices, a combination of a microcomputer, sensors and a camera.

Is there much or little traffic in your street and how does your street compare to other streets in terms of morning and evening peak traffic? You can now enter your "street profile" on Telraam.

This new camera holder was 3D printed in Belgium and ensures that the camera can be installed at a perfect angle without the risk of falling out of position.

Then our latest API offering should really interest you! With the freshly released traffic snapshot API we provide an easy and convenient access point to traffic count and segment geography data in a single call.

There is always a lot going on behind the scenes of Telraam that is not immediately visible for our users. As you might have read in our 'Who is Who' already, some of us are working on improving the IT architecture to make sure the servers and APIs are always up for the task, while others are busy with maintaining and growing the Telraam family by working with the interested citizens and various levels of governments, with work ranging from writing technical business proposals to providing a dedicated helpdesk to resolve any potential questions coming from current and future Telraam users.
